Episode 56 - A Case of The Groggies

Hurricane Update:

This week I'm happy to report that the New York City Subways are for the most part  back up and running.
I also mention the Subway Knits Podcast, in which Maria talks about her hurricane experience, and is holding a fundraiser for hurricane relief. Please visit her Ravelry Group for more info.

Also, the New York Aquarium has reported that they were able to "restore power and life support systems to the last remaining exhibits. Assuming we can maintain this generator power, we have no immediate plans to relocate any animals." Although it will need months and months of repair before reopening its doors.

On the needles:

Lately, I've been watching the show 'Breaking Bad' while knitting. It's entertaining, but I prefer genres of the 'Downton Abbey' and vampire drama caliber.

Quilting Update:

mixed feedback from viewers who fell down the quilting rabbit hole
Ordered fabric from Joann.com for quilt
Can finally sew in a straight line, can bind correctly. - need more work, but definitely getting there.

  1. Two very excellent quilting books are The Sampler Quilt by Diana Leone ( I have the one from 1977 but I think there is a newer edition). Also Heirloom Machine Quilting by Harriet Hargraves. I had a quilting library to rival my knitting library and these were two of my favorites. Another one that I can't remember the name was meant for beginners. The authors are Fons and Porter I think. It's been a day or two ago. Sue
